Tools and Resources for understanding, appreciating and respecting snow, weather and avalanches

Introduction to Snomet
Ever since preparing snow forecasts for our sledding hill when I was 10 or 11 years old, I have always been passionate about snow and weather. And I increased this interest while working on avalanche control with professional ski patrols and highways...and I began to realize how much I didn't know and needed to learn about this really cool and dynamic frozen water all around me. This lack of knowledge was made more evident during many years of forecasting mountain weather, snow and avalanche danger at the Northwest Avalanche Center in Seattle, WA. Fortunately, I was able to increase my knowledge of and respect for snow, and gradually I became surprised a little less often by mountain weather and the snow and avalanche danger that resulted. Hopefully I can share some of that knowledge and wisdom thru links, text and more to help increase awareness, respect and enjoyment in the sometimes volatile mountain mix of snow, weather and avalanches.
